Event Waiver

State Team Officials Codes of Conduct Waiver 

To accept an offer of appointment for a School Sport ACT (SSACT) State Team Official it is a requirement to have read, understood and agree to abide by the SSACT Codes of Conduct document and also understand the disciplinary consequences of a breach of the Codes of Conduct. Thedocument can be found in the Resources section of the website. 

The Codes of Conduct shall apply to all team members participating in School Sport ACT endorsed events, this includes School, Regional and ACT representation. This Code of Conduct also applies to approved activities that may not be sport participation related but are a part of organised team activities. 

By accepting the role of Team Official, you are agreeing to; 

  • Adhere to SSACT policies, procedures and guidelines. 
  • Communicate and liaise with all involved in the program and respond promptly to requests by SSACT pertaining to team operation and information. 
  • Promote the ethos of School Sport by setting a good example for the students, parents and fellow officials and placing the safety and well-being of students above all other objectives. 
  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviour in parent/supporter interactions remembering you are appointed in an official and professional capacity representing SSACT. 
  • Encourage and create opportunities to develop individual skills.  
  • Teach your players to be respectful towards officials and opponents both verbally and in physical gestures.  
  • Give all students a chance to participate in training and games, players deserve equal time.
  • Emphasise that the winning of a game is a result of positive teamwork.
  • Remove from the field of play any of your players whose conduct is not acceptable.  
  • Inform SSACT of any issue or situation that may adversely impact on aspects of a tour.
  • Keep your own knowledge of coaching and the developments of the game up to date.  
  • Adhere to School Sport Australia’s policy of a smoke and alcohol-free environment. There is to be no smoking or drinking of alcohol in the company of students or parents.
  • No use of illicit drugs or substances at any time during the Championship.
  • No team official of the opposite gender entering the team change rooms until all team members have completed changing. 
  • No team official to be in a situation where the official is alone with a team member.
  • Wear SSACT officialuniform attire to all Championship functions and activities, both at home and interstate.
  • Adhere to appropriate mandatory reporting requirements
  • I agree to abide by the Codes of Conduct and the points outlined above on the previous page, and understand there may disciplinaryaction if found in breach.
  • I have not ever been in breach of this or other organisation’s child/vulnerable person’s protection and Codes of Conduct.
  • I have not ever had concerns raised about my behaviour towards children or vulnerable persons.
  • I have not ever been subject to an investigation or convicted of a criminal offence relating to abuse or inappropriate behaviour.
  • I understand I am obliged to inform School Sport ACT of any past breaches, concerns raised or investigations against me in regard to abuse or inappropriate behaviour with children or vulnerable persons at the time of appointment.
